I just returned from the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film & Interactive Confrerence in Austin, Texas. It was truly an awesome five days of film screenings and technology and film-related presentations and panel discussions.

Well, Oscar night is quickly approaching, and the team here at Movie Lovers Only and FlickChick.TV are beyond excited!
The Flick Chick and Blantonious have been watchin’ all of the nominated flicks & performances AND surfin’ the net, catchin’ up on the latest last-minute Oscar and red carpet buzz.
With wild & crazy Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin as hosts and a stellar group of nominees, presenters and performances — we truly think that this years’ Academy Awards ceremony is gonna be great!
**Just a reminder, the big event takes place this Sunday, March 7th. The red carpet arrivals begin at 6 pm on E! and the Oscar telecast begins at 8 pm on ABC.
To get you all in the mood (and perhaps to help you fill out your OWN personal Oscar ballots), the Flick Chick & Blantonious have decided to let you in on their picks for 4 of the main categories:
BEST ACTOR, BEST ACTRESS, BEST DIRECTOR and BEST PICTURE.
We may both be movie lovers……but we definitely don’t agree on everything!
(Some people, who shall remain nameless, don’t appreciate George Clooney nearly enough for instance. Just sayin’.)

The Flick Chick discusses the new film adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks bestseller DEAR JOHN.
According to New York Magazine online, because of the unexpected success of DEAR JOHN, there will soon be many films at your local multiplex that will appeal to a usually much-ignored demographic — women, mainly young women.
It’s pretty obvious, the Flick Chick loves movies.
ALL types of movies.
But she does hold a special place in her heart for good old-fashioned romantic comedies. They’re the comfort food of cinema, as far as she’s concerned.
Imagine her delight when she first saw the trailer for VALENTINE’S DAY, Garry Marshall’s new star-studded flick celebrating love, lust, flowers, chocolate and all things romantic.
She was one happy & excited Flick Chick.
Well, VALENTINE’S DAY was released on Friday, February 12th — and apparently the Flick Chick wasn’t the only one who was looking forward to a little ‘romance with the stars’.
