And The Nominees Are….

OK, call me crazy (or  just an insomniac)….but it’s late Monday night, I’m still up and the Oscar nominees are scheduled to be announced in the morning — so I thought I might as well make a few predictions.

What the heck?

By the way, I’m not gonna go through the WHOLE list of categories. I mean seriously folks, I’m not that crazy. I DO need to get a little shut-eye.

So here are my predictions of some of the names I think we’ll hear the lovely Anne Hathaway announce around 8:30 am EST on Tuesday, February 2nd.

BEST PICTURE (10 nominees this year instead of 5…makes it interesting)

An Education, Avatar, The Blind Side, The Hangover, The Hurt Locker, Inglourious Basterds, Precious, Star Trek, Up and Up In The Air.

BEST ACTOR

Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart), George Clooney (Up In The Air), Colin Firth (A Single Man), Morgan Freeman (Invictus), Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker)

BEST ACTRESS

Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side), Helen Mirren (The Last Station), Carey Mulligan (An Education), Meryl Streep (Julia & Julia) and Gabourey Sidibe (Precious)

———————————————————————————————-

OK, so that’s all for now…..I may add a category or two in the morning (wait, it IS the morning!).

By the way…it’s pretty much a done deal that Mo’Nique will win BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS for Precious and Christoph Waltz will win BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR for Inglourious Basterds.

I mean, they’ve both won almost every other award in their respective categories. I’m just sayin’.

**So watch the Oscar nomination announcements live at 8:30 am EST. We’ll see if my Flick Chick “Movie Mojo” is workin’ or not.

Oh yeah, and don’t forget to watch the Academy Awards on Sunday March 7th.

One thing is for sure that night: “I see Blue People”.

Stay tuned!

  • I’m sticking with UR predictions, my luck is not something the actors want on their side! I do love me some Jeff Bridges though, Georgie needs to give a grand acceptance speech but I don’t see that happening.

  • You pretty much nailed it Flick Chick. 8 out of 10 for best picture and 5 of 5 for both best Actor and best Actress. 🙂 Although District 9 would have certainly been my pick over The Hangover and I would still go with your pick on Star Trek. It was just a great movie and great acting. Not to mention J.J. Abrams directed it.
